Taylor Fangmann was born in Ohio and raised in a town of fewer than 1200 people, Taylor is a small-town girl with big-city dreams. She was able to convince her family to move to Los Angeles to allow her to pursue a career in acting. Coming from a military family, until now Taylor spent most of her life moving around. While some see the disadvantages of moving from place to place, Taylor saw it as the perfect way to explore new places, learn about new cultures, and meet new people. These life experiences have led her to find the positive in every situation.
Taylor's bright light of positivity shines through in everything she does, whether posing for pictures on a red carpet or presenting new ideas to her favorite charities. Aside from acting, her passion is raising awareness to the needs of those with Down Syndrome. Having a little sister with Down Syndrome has taught Taylor the importance of inclusivity and kindness for those with special needs. Taylor's ultimate goal is to be a bright light in the world, lighting the way for not only her sister but for those that need a little extra support, love, and kindness. Quickly becoming a typical SoCal teen, Taylor enjoys traveling, going to Disney, and spending time with her friends.
Was there something (an experience) or someone in your life that was the "catalyst" for you to start writing music? Tell us about it.
An experience in my life that has definitely helped me have my love for music would be me and my great-grandmother sitting at her piano and playing music whenever I was six years old.
Let's get this out of the way. What is the CRAZIEST thing that has ever happened to you in your music career?
So, the crazy thing is I have been very lucky and nothing too crazy has happened to me yet but give me some time I bet something will happen.
What has been the high point of your music path?
The highest point of my music path definitely would have to be my first song. I'm so excited for this to be my first and many more to be coming out soon.
So, how do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like?
I have a co-writer and she is absolutely amazing but sometimes I come up with an idea or a hook for a song and she helps me finish writing it out.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Indie Artists today? Or, if you could ask the music industry to change one thing, what would it be?
My biggest challenges of being in the music industry would be finding people that you really click with and be vulnerable when writing but I have a fabulous mom who did tons of research and found me amazing people I have the pleasure of working with.
If you could share the stage with one other artist or band, who would it be and why?
One artist that would be such a pleasure to share the stage with would definitely be Kelsea Ballerini. She is such an inspiration to me and her story is very relatable to mine.
What are your rehearsals generally like? Or, how do you prepare for a live show?
When I have something that could be stressful, I always like to take a breath and just really focus on doing what I love the most and I like to spend time with my sister Averie who is 5 years old and has Down syndrome. We have fun together and she helps me take my mind off the stress.
Pick one song that was your greatest challenge to write. Tell us about it!
Out of all the songs I have written that will be coming out semi soon, probably “Lonely” that comes out January 2nd was the hardest to write. It's about losing someone and it's about like a friendship breakup and relationship break up coming from that hard place knowing that they're no longer in your life.
What's coming up in the future?
In my future I hope to still be whatever I love most, definitely making music!
