Kala Farnham - 'Beautiful Heart'

Review by Sylvie Marie and Victoria Scott

Kala has planted seeds of hope in “Beautiful Heart.” Against a simple arrangement of voice and piano, Kala’s voice is graceful and powerful like a life-affirming current moving through a calm sea who has once seen rough waters, but has found inner waves of peace.

As a pianist, Kala anticipates the melody allowing her to make a swift and clean key change when going into the second verse. Kala’s classical training stands-out and her folk style brings you into the song with unsurpassed emotion and beauty.

“Beautiful Heart” a heart-moving example of self-love and self-worth. Kala’s story portrays trauma and the magnificent re-claiming of one's whole self. In "Beautiful Heart," Kala provides a language of strength by bringing forward what can't be taken away. “Beautiful Heart is inspiring and encourages those that have felt intolerable pain to shine on even when justice never comes.

“It's a hard game girl; sometimes justice never comes. Don't you lose faith girl; Gotta hold your head high and be strong. Don't you ever be an ashamed girl; They cannot steal your beautiful heart. In a man's world - Gotta hold your head high and be proud. Just grab your crown and carry on Queen.”

Kala Farnham’s #MeToo message and song is far deeper than a movement - it's hope, light and love for those who have gone through traumatic experiences. “Beautiful Heart” is an anthem that encourages us to fight another day. Kala is an impeccable musician and a lovely vocalist who triumphs in "Beautiful Heart" with an artistry and a resiliency that will bring you to tears and raise you up at the same time'
