Roxanne is a Canadian singer-songwriter, performing artist, recording artist and independent music producer who pushes her creative limits off the track and onto the dancefloor. While earning her degree in music performance (classical music and opera), Roxanne began her career as a solo vocalist and as a chorister with various local music ensembles and theater companies throughout North America’s prestigious stages, including Ottawa’s National Arts Center and New York’s Carnegie Hall. Expanding her musical repertoire with genres including pop, rock, soul, jazz, blues, funk, disco, soca, and afrobeat, Roxanne performed as a lead and back-up singer for local and international acts. Embracing her love of world rhythms, Roxanne became the singer-songwriter, music producer, and leading woman of her reggae band, Nile Groove, and her new neo-soul band, The Roxanne Project. Her latest single, "Move You Body", perfectly caputures Roxanne's energy and appeal.
Before Roxanne asks, Are you ready?" a tatalizing and playful melodic organ synth with a syncopated rhythm paves the way for what's to come in "Move Yuh Body." The production builds upon this incredibly catchy motif as Roxanne continues to prep the scene with her sultry voice, When she finally says..."Let's go," the ride takes off and doesn't land until the very end. At this moment, the track busts open with a driving sub-base and complex beats that "get your body pumpin.'"
As the mix moves forward, the track explodes from all sides with extraordinary production work that layers the heat and lights up the night like electronic fireworks. A thin, horn like instrumentation sings through the mix like a coiling snake as the amazing Djembe percussion by Salah Adem builds up the intensity. Roxanne has a passion for world rhythm, and it shows throughout the song. "
Roxanne's vocal perforamance is silky smooth as she maneuveres her pristine sound in and around the glorious beat. Vocal layering adds to the engaging arrangement. She is simply mesmerizing.
