Crooked Flower - 'Freedom'

On the first day of summer, June 21, 2019, BWH Music Group released the sizzling hot summer compilation album, That Summer, Vol. 2, by Various Artists. The album offers 16 songs from internationally acclaimed and award-wining independent artists. Crooked Flower's song "Freedom" is one of the phenomenal songs featured on the album.

In their political protest and social justice song, "Freedom", the band takes on the hypocrisy of the "WAR ON dRUGS" Crooked War on Drugs." Crooked Flower states,"The drug war and police have generally become militarized in the US. Estimates range from 45,000 to 80,000 SWAT team home invasions per year, mostly to enforce the Drug War or other victim-less crimes. So “Thank G_D for the government, taking care of me!”

Crooked Flower has the best rock band name of our time and it completely compliments and describes the music this ultra-talented group puts out. If you are looking for flowers that are cut, dyed, and packaged with cellophane at your local Walmart, then Crooked Flower is not for you. If you are looking for a wildflower, something unique and organic that is different from all the rest, one that leans and bends and breaks and grows in ways you've never experienced, then Crooked Flower is your band. Simply put, Crooked Flower brings a fresh originality back to indie-rock.

The vocals of Angelina Dang start "Freedom" with a defiant groove and an edgy, bluesy rock timbre. "Got one dead for selling loosies . Another for having stuff." The song's arrangement is incredibly engaging with interesting composition at every turn, offering full guitar jams sessions between verses. There's so much musical substance to this band that it would be hard to narrow it down to one moment. At times the music ventures into a psychedelic space with echo effects. When you listen to Crooked Flower, your ears can tune into any one of the amazing musicians and you will hear a multitude of little masterpieces.

Please check out the new video of "Freedom."

This is the kind of music you can listen to over and over again and hear something different - and amazing - each time. Add in great lyrics, message, and A+ musicianship and you have just picked the best indie flower - Crooked Flower - in the alt-rock music field.
