Happy Curmudgeons present a very professional sound in their song “2nd Chances ft. Amy Lavery.” Their talent is quite evident through their lyricism and musicianship. Achieving a timeless country-rock sound, the differentiated verses along with the guitar solo in the middle of the piece created diversity which is what makes their outstanding musicianship obvious.
Let alone the instrumental part of the piece, Lavery’s remarkable voice is intriguing as her golden tone makes listeners want to sing along. Her vocal clarity is on display throughout the song granting satisfaction to how well executed her technique is. The message of this song is portrayed through certain lyrics such as, “I don’t know where I’m going, but I know where I’ve been…I believe in second chances, I believe in me and you”. It is explained that like several, they are reflecting on their past mistakes and plan to improve their decision making. This message can pertain to almost everyone, as they go through life unsure of what is the right and wrong thing to do at times.
“2nd Chances ft. Amy Lavery” gives listeners a great impression of Happy Curmudgeons’ musical style, as they continues to make more, well versed music in their upcoming second album. The overall sound of this song with the instrumental details and Lavery’s inviting voice creates a very full and well rounded song. Happy Curmudgeons’ music deserves a worthwhile listen to, as they perfectly display the necessities of a great band in their new song.

The Happy Curmudgeons are a group of studio musicians from the metro Detroit. They released their first album, Meant 2 Be, Dec. 2017 and currently are working on their next release. The group was assembled by Dave Hamilton and they incorporate many genres in their songs. The Happy Curmudgeons are working with their producer, Mark Byerly, who has worked with Bob Seger, Carlos Santana and Justin Timberlake.
