Kathy Bell - Exclusive Interveiw

Kathy Bell grew up in a small Indiana town. She recalls, very fondly, visiting the Grand Ole Opry with her family. This is when she knew she had a dream. At a young age, she began by playing piano and singing in the church where her grandfather was a Pastor for 57 years. Later on she joined the High School band, playing flute and bass drum.

Kathy later competed, in costumes, in various Karaoke competitions. She also began writing original songs and taking them to Nashville Tennessee.

Today, Kathy enjoys performing as a funny old lady "Ma Bell" and realizes although she now still has her dreams of performing at the Grand Ole Opry, she is content performing and having fun singing her songs and entertaining audiences.

For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! If three words just aren't enough then tell us more!!

1) Upbeat

2) Definitely Country Alternative

3) Danceable

When you are writing a song, where do you draw inspiration from? Or what topics do you like to sing about?

Usually things come at me at random when I least expect it. I have written a wide range of things, but mostly things that I can feel and others can relate to.

Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?

Fishing,Dancing, Cooking, and another hobby is being a DJ and Karaoke Host. I am most known for helping others sometimes to the point that I miss me time.

Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it?

I'm done, I'm moving on.. that song really does say it all, what happened to me, the emotions of anger, but it shows that I grew through the pain and came out of a bad situation smiling and singing.

What was the first song or piece you ever wrote!?

"Oh What a Friend" - I wrote this when I was incredibly sick and wasn't sure what was left to look forward to. This song helped me pull through things and realize that I still had faith when things were bad.

What is your dream gig? Is there a gig that you really want that would be the ultimate show for you?

My ultimate dream gig is the Grand Ole Opry . I realized that when I was very very young sitting outside feeling "wowed" from performances looking up at my dad and saying, "One day I will sing and dance there".. he answered,"maybe," but I realize now he didn't know how hard that one was.

Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?

I am working on adding new ideas to Ma Bells show. I truthfully want her to be a variety of everything and just plain fun. I am working on adding some comedy which is new for me to write so a definite challenges.

Tell us where fans can access your music.
