Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Leslie Craig is a singer-songwriter. Her music combines rock, dance, country, and blues for an unforgetable experience. Leslie was a resident at the world-famous Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, where she performed 5 nights a week and was joined onstage by Hank Williams Jr., Kris Kristofferson, Gavin DeGraw, Kix Brooks, Bobby Brown, and Jake Owen, among others. Tootsie's featured Leslie in their 50th anniversary concert at The Ryman Auditorium, where she shared the stage with Kristofferson, Jamey Johnson, Little Jimmie Dickens, Mel Tillis, and Randy Houser, to name a few. Currently, Leslie has released 3 EP's. The second EP, Wild Card, Vol.2 showcases Leslie's undeniable charisma and talent.
The first song off the EP, "Love is My Engine" is a rockin', soulful song about a Harley driving, long-haired guitar player with tattoos. Leslie struts her sultry, gritty vocals against a tight playing, piano rolling, jamming band that sounds live at the bar. Slick guitar solos highlight this fun track about love at first sight. "Love is my engine. I want to take you for a ride." From flirtatious verses to killer choruses all backed by a rocking energetic arrangement, "Love is My Engine" makes for a highly memorable start to Volume 2.
Up next is the heartfelt ballad, "I Hate to Cry." Showing her vulnerable side, Leslie sings a tender song about lost love. The lyrics depict the heartache of forgetting someone in the face of seeing that person with someone new. "Don't try find a reason why, we both know that would only make things worse, 'cause I hate to cry." Accompanied by a bright piano, twangy guitar, and steady beating drums, Leslie's vocal performance takes center stage with gut-wrenching expression. This soulful, rock-fueled power ballad hates to cry, but cries hard.
"Faster" has an upbeat, rock and bluegrass sound that blows your hair back. Rapid picking adds a touch of Americana soul in the background of the soundscape melding with crisp percussion and wailing electric guitars. "Faster" is about the games lovers play and the desire to move faster. "I want to jump into this fire....baby make this thing go faster. Do it now, before I change my mind." The song ends with a blast of blues holding the intensity until the very end as a guitar solo fades.
The four song EP ends with "Too Good To Be True." With a touch of country, this rock song has strong melodic content and a great hook. Singing about a love that's too good to be true, the lyrics describe how it feels to be fooled by a charming, smooth talker. With a strong pop-sensibility "Too Good To Be True" is ready to hit the country air-waves, making for a memorable close to Vol. 2.
