Review Written by Victoria Scott & Staff
Wistful bells and the plucking of a violin invite you into the the neo-classical song “Always Lovers,” by Pauline Frechette featuring David Campbell from the album Colors of My Heart.
Pauline’s misty and bright vocals transport you into a euphoric love song. As she sings the first line, "Hold me in your arms tonight, whisper songs of love," Pauline's spellbinding timbre take you away.
The song features David’s whimsical arrangement and production with the artistic use of symphonic instruments. The dreamy orchestration, staccato strings, and vocal melody will enthrall you like the wind on a warm day.
Influences of jazz and Broadway are uniquely present. Charlie Bisharat, as concertmaster, leads the the ensemble to a masterful performance of the beautifully written minor melodies and harmonies that dance together like stars in the night sky. The song was produced and recorded at The Bridge Recording Studio with engineer Steve Churchyard and contractor Suzie Katayama who create a captivating mix.
“Always Lovers” is about devotion to the one you love. Pauline’s lyrics are transcendent; her use of imagery creates a vivid and intimate picture of the love she has for her husband. Each line depicts the essence of two connected souls.
“Fly with me into the night,
I’ll wear the stars like diamonds,
Sweeping past the painted moon we’re lovers,
Always, lovers. Hold me in your arms tonight till the early dawn.”
“Always Lovers” is a masterful work comprised of Pauline’s honest and heartfelt lyrics and David’s wistful arrangement. Writers, artists, musicians and even psychologists have struggled to define love. In "Always Lovers," the essence of true love is defined through art - transcending lyrics and music - "Always Lovers" captures the essence of true love, the emotion and the universal mystery.
