Peter Unger's "Heaven Only Knows" is a beautiful and moving Christian song. The introduction commences with delightful acoustic guitar finger-picking. The guitar playing is clean and bright with a wide-open, reverberating sound as if it is being played in a hall. Soon gentle motifs on the electric guitar slide in. Stylistically, the song mixes elements of folk and contemporary Christian.
Peters commences singing, "Hey Lord, you don't know me. We have not met before." Peter's voice is warm. In this song, his vocal expression sounds humble and sincere as he goes on to express that God has been knocking on his door. In the chorus, he sings an expression that many of us have said, "Heavenly only knows how hard I've tried." As the song moves forward, the instrumentation and vocals move through the chorus with greater passion as the lyrics express how it feels to fall into a place where you have reached rock bottom and ask for God's help. As this space inside us is filled with many things, Peter gives the answer an answer to the emptiness - fill the space with God's love. This is the type of song that can bring tears to your eyes.
"Heaven Only Knows" is a beautiful, well-performed song that offers comfort and peace. It has a timeless quality in both it's gentle melodies and universal lyrics. We have all been in a place where it feels like we are looking for something or someone to fill the void of a material world - "Heaven Only Knows" offers a spiritual solution to this age-old human longing.

About Peter Unger
Pastor Peter B. Unger is a singer-songwriter who writes Inspirational/Spiritual Folk, Celtic and Country music. He was a finalist in the USA International Song Writing Competition. Peter was raised in New England and is a graduate of Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate Degree from Drew University in Madison, NJ. Pastor Peter, as he known to parishioners, has served Churches in upstate NY and Eastern PA. He was also a chaplain at the veteran’s hospital in Syracuse, NY. Pastor Unger is also a college instructor at an area college. Singing and songwriting has been a passion of Pastor Peter since his early teens. Pastor Unger wrote most of these songs as an extension of his ministry; they were performed during worship services, weddings, funerals, conferences, and a variety of other church gatherings. The greatest reward Pastor Unger has received from his music is the assurance by many of the comfort, hope, and mediated sense of Christ’s presence it brought them. Peter’s music features organic guitar work and poignant lyrics with a focus on hope and faith in today’s challenging world.
