Richard Lynch - "I Saw Santa Fishin'"

Review by Daniel Hoyt & Staff

Richard Lynch knows how to find the country in just about everything and while others are singing about Santa on his sled and Santa going down the chimney and Santa making a list...Richard Lynch is singing about Santa catching fish! This is no surprise coming from an artist who is unstoppable when it comes to delivering country music hits that traditional country music fans love.

"I Saw Santa Fishin’” throws in a 90's country vibe. It reminded this writer of songs like “Summertime Blues” covered by Alan Jackson. The song jumps straight into the chorus from the intro and has a great shuffle beat. As the verse arrives, the drums kick back a little and the side stick technique is heard on the kit to put more focus on the low-down side of the music. After the second chorus, a guitar solo is heard, and that leads into the modulation for the final part of the song. The song was written by Richard Lynch and Joe Blanchard.

"I Saw Santa Fishin' is a fun Christmas ditty for everyone to enjoy. The story within the tune is that the protagonist sees Santa fishing at his favorite creek. The song makes references to Hank Williams with lines like, “singing a song by ole Hank,” and “singing ‘I Saw the Light’, I never knew old Santa could sing.” The song also has references to fishing products like Zebco Fishing Reels with the line, “that Zebco started to scream.” With clever lyrics, "I Saw Santa Fishin'" is sure to put a smile on your face.

"I know it’s hard to believe, but I saw Santa standing on the side of a creek bank / He was catching them fish like they were going out of style and singing a song by ole Hank."

Richard Lynch is an independent country music icon. He shows his versatility and lighter side with this fun little tune. True to his story-telling genius, he paints a vivid picture of Santa fishing. This is the kind of holiday song that can get people dancing and keep the spirits up during the Holiday season. Add "I Saw Santa Fishin'" to your favorite country music holiday playlist and enjoy the fun.

About Richard Lynch

One would be hard-pressed to find a musician as authentic as Richard Lynch, whose traditional country music fully embodies his hay-raising, farm-dwelling lifestyle. An all-American, blue collar country man, Lynch has poured his heart and soul into the countless chart-topping hits he and his band have produced. His music is 100% real country, evoking some of his influences such as Keith Whitley, Conway Twitty, and George Strait. For three decades and counting, Lynch has written, sung, and performed his songs with passion and dedication, building himself up into an independent country music sensation. While his musical roots are grounded in pure country, his songs also showcase elements of western swing, honky tonk and outlaw country.

Lynch’s edge as a singer/songwriter comes from living the life he sings. Lynch is a hardworking, personification of pure country. He has been a designer, and builder of amazing barns, and an American farmer. In addition to his everyday life, paying his musical dues by performing at 100's of events and shows a year, all across the country, is that which shaped him into a one-of-a-kind performer. Lynch's style is true and it carries into his live shows.

The Richard Lynch Band has garnered critical acclaim, particularly for the first single and title track of A Better Place. The Lynch album was named the Pure Country Album of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists, while Lynch was declared Humanitarian of the Year, and his band named the Traditional Country Band of the Year at the 2015 Josie Awards. A Better Place was produced by renowned songwriter Billy Yates, and features the work of several talented musicians who have previously worked with artists including Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, and Reba McEntire.

Recently, Lynch recorded a duet with country star Ronnie McDowell. The single, “Love Tattoo” is a moving tribute to military veterans, and was released to rave reviews in January. Richard released his third studio album on April 1st, on Fence Row Records and is already climbing the major radio charts. Mending Fences is an incredible 12 track project of pure country music. The title track, written by Lesley McDaniel, Fost Daniel, Jesse Daniel and Nick Hall is an outstanding example of pure country music. Also included is a stunning and heartfelt duet with the amazing Rhonda Vincent by Hall. On May 25, 2019 Lynch released his fourth studio album to rave reviews around the world. This release consists of twelve self-penned and stunning pure country tracks. One highlight is ‘Another Honky Tonk Song’ which is classic country and features a duet with the amazing Leona Williams. Backed by a group of hand selected country musicians, the Richard Lynch Band performs a wide variety of music.

Perfect for the true traditionalist longing for the emotions of three cords and the truth wrapped in the soul of a steel guitar or fans seeking hard driving honky tonk, a Richard Lynch performance will surely warm your country soul.
