Sean Roberto - "In A Daze'

By Sylvie Marie & Staff

Sean Roberto is an unsigned solo artist, currently residing in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sean iand learned much of his craft online. He grew up listening primarily to alt-rock bands, most of them British - Oasis, Nirvana, The White Stripes, The Killers, and the Arctic Monkeys are some of his favorite bands. He has an unhealthy obsession with The Beatles and David Bowie, as well as a love of electronic groups such as Crystal Castles and Depeche Mode. Sean started writing songs until his mid-twenties (he is 25 now) after trying a variety of careers - including filmmaking, videography, being a YouTuber, pro wrestling writing, and placing losing sports bets before realizing that music was actually the safest career of all of these. Using YouTube and Wikipedia to learn music theory, Sean wrote the Smile in the Dark EP. Inspired by The White Stripes, Sean dedicated each song to one of his favorite musicians. Off his EP, the single "In a Daze" is a great way to introduce yourself to Sean's music.

“In A Daze” is a simple piano ballad off of Sean Roberto’s Smile in the Dark. One of the more stripped-down tracks on theEP, the gentle duet between piano and voice entrances listeners. You can hear the sorrow and pain in Sean’s deep, baritone vocals as he tells a sad love story about being stood up on a date. The piano echoes reverberantly in the background contrasting with the upfront, raw vocals. Sean gives an intimate performance that feels authentic. This approach draws you into his story and emotions.

Throughout the melancholy story, the haunting spoken-work-like lyrics are sure to stick with you as he sings,

“I want to meet you but you won’t/I want to see you but you won’t /I want to feel you but I don’t/I’ll be left sitting here/In a daze, in a drunken haze.”

“In A Daze” was the last song to be written for the Smile in the Dark EP yet is one of the tracks Sean feels the most connected with and it's easy to hear why. "In A Daze" is a heartfelt ballad that explores experience and emotion with honesty and rawness giving Sean a real edginess that draws you in and keeps you glued to every word..
