Tanner Gordon-“Baby You’ve Seen Too Much”

Review by Patrick Joseph &Staff

“Baby You’ve Seen Too Much” is smooth yet powerful. The music seems to shine and shimmer, while lyrical content and an impassioned vocal deliver create a sincere emotional depth. Driving and well-constructed, this is a song that will captivate your attention. A catchy melody and inspired electric guitar playing sit perfectly over a tight rhythm section in this efficient and effective track.

Lyrically, “Baby You’ve Seen Too Much” is a moving homage to front-line health care staff. Their work and sacrifices are honored beautifully by these lyrics. “Baby you’ve seen too much, there needs to be a change, Tear off your armor and scrubs, turn another page, Sometimes a hero needs to be saved.” Sometimes the people who take care of us need to be taken care of. Gordon illustrates this point with insight and clarity: “Just a hand to hold or touch, Baby you’ve seen too much.”

The arrangement of “Baby You’ve Seen Too Much” is musically mature and courageous. An edgy bridge gives the song a significant dynamic peak which resolves beautifully back into the main groove. Listeners will love the way the instruments support and highlight the vocal melody. Beautiful guitar playing plays a great counterpoint to Gordon’s vocals, which are controlled and strong throughout. “Baby You’ve Seen Too Much” is a touching and inspiring musical tribute.
