WD-Han, a blues and rock band, formed in 2008 when they were just teenagers and have been writing and performing great music ever since. The band is made up of lead singer Spencer Barnes, guitarist Cal Henry, and percussionist Lea Barnes, along with the band’s manager Marjorye Henry (yes, two married couples) make up the heart of WD-Han. They are driven to make a positive impact on people's lives through music. They play many benefits for anti-drug groups and pro–human-rights groups. They have supported orphanages in Ghana and Haiti and charities like the American Cancer Society. WD-HAN has played at hundreds of local venues, many major music festivals, appeared on Daytime America twice, toured Taiwan three times, and recorded four albums or EPs. Now, in 2020, this is their year, this is their decade. Releasing new songs every 4-6 weeks, touring, and appearing in more festivals, they are inviting you along for the ride.

For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! If three words just aren't enough then tell us more!!

Now that is a brutal question! I'd say Rock, blues, fun!

When you are writing a song, where do you draw inspiration from? Or what topics do you like to sing about?

Spencer is the lyricist, but really forwards the ideals of our entire group. We like to write songs that tell stories, songs that give you the feels, songs that give you the chills or make you want to head bang as you listen. We want our music to resonate and hit hard with the listener, not be something forgettable 5 seconds later.

Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?

Ohhh, I am a total homebody. But I REALLY love going to the movies! Spencer and I try to see most of the new releases coming out; the magic of cinema gets me every time. Plus... the whole band is really into boba.  We became boba connoisseurs during our time in Taiwan. If you have suggestions for the best boba, pass it along...

Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it?

This is such a great question!  Our newest single called "Bad" has a raw power that I think really comes across.  It is just a dirty, raunchy groove that resonates hard. I dare you to listen and not get lost in the vibe! It's about being left by someone and you kind of can't understand why they would leave you - because you're awesome and you know it.

What was the first song or piece you ever wrote!?

We were youngsters in high school when we started writing music together. Our first song was called "The Spencer Song", since Spencer had just joined the band as singer.  It's creative genius, I know.

What is your dream gig? Is there a gig that you really want that would be the ultimate show for you?

My dream gig is being anywhere with an audience who is right there in the moment with us.  It is so magical to have that connection between the band and the crowd - it's like this emotional musical relationship. You all know that feeling when you see your favorite artist live in concert, or hear your favorite song. It's a real emotional connection!

Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?

We are release a new single every month this year. This is our most exciting material yet. You best be following us on Spotify!
