“10,000 Years Ago” is a rich and complex musical opus. Exciting, fresh rhythms and emotionally loaded harmonic progressions support engaging melodies and lyrics in this burning indie-rock jam. Instrumental prowess is on full display but does not overshadow the mature songwriting and craftsmanship that went into this beautiful piece of music.
Lyrically, “10,000 Years Ago” is raw and insightful.
“Yea but at least we got each other, Until we both discover, You only love yourself, It’s a popular disorder, Disgusting.”
Bellas pulls no punches in his honest delivery.
“If I make it in this life, I want everyone to know, There’s no selfish jealousy, I’d bring everyone along.”
These are lyrics that inspire contemplation, a perfect match for the song’s groove.
“10,000 Years Ago” is hypnotic and catchy. It’s the type of song that you can sink into and swim around for a while. Listeners will love the careful attention to detail that went into the layering of the rhythm section and backup vocals. Bellas’s lead vocal is strong and determined. He floats over the music and delivers a gripping performance. From killer instrumental takes to an overall satisfying arrangement arc, “10,000 Years Ago” is undeniably great.

Zach Bellas is a three-piece rock band currently based in Baltimore, Maryland, and named after its frontman - American musician, producer, and founder of the independent recording label SMB Records. Zach Bellas features Tom McAteer on drums, Kyle Hadley on bass and backing vocals & Zach Bellas on guitar and vocals. Since beginning his professional music career in 2008, Bellas has performed over 1,000 shows all across the USA and internationally, including touring in support of great bands such as Clutch, Corrosion of Conformity, and Flogging Molly. He has also produced and released seven full-length albums, an EP, and several singles through his label, including some key collaborations with Hall of Famer Junior Marvin from Bob Marley and The Wailers, Jean-Paul Gaster from Clutch, and legendary producer Don Zientara.
