JuiceThaBlackBeethoven - 'Meet Me at the Mistletoe'

Reviewed by Aaron Cloutier

JuiceThaBlackBeethoven continues on his crusade to get you on the dance floor this holiday season with the toe-tapping “Meet Me At The Mistletoe.” A tasty cocktail made up of swing, traditional country and classic Rock N’ Roll with a just a dash of pop, to make it go down smoothly.

In contrast to my previous review of the more tender sensibilities showcased on the ballad-like “I Want To See You Smile For Christmas,” Juice cranks up the energy on “Meet Me At The Mistletoe” as he confidently plays his piano with fiery conviction and superb technique. Rounded out by a stellar rhythm section and guitarist, Juice and company are coming in hot from the get-go. As soon as listeners push play they will be treated to the warmth and fullness of stand up bass lines, driving rhythms, and guitars with just a splash of distortion to give it a subtle bite as it cuts through the mix.

Taking the reins on vocal duties this time around, the vocalist sings with a playfulness as he narrates his romantic holiday inclinations depicted in lyrics such as “

“So I drank me a gallon of holiday courage, and now I’m gon’ make make my move.”

There’s an endearing quality about his voice that when combined with the lyrics, puts me with a gathering of friends around midnight where everyone’s just relaxing and having a great time.

An honorable mention is due as well to the line “Meet me at the mistletoe and bring your pretty lips too” just for the sheer catchiness of the melody. Listen with caution as this will be stuck in your head. Once again, a testament to Juice’s songwriting chops!

If you’re looking for a quick shot in the arm of holiday spirit, be sure to give this one a spin. It’ll spin you right back!
