For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! If three words just aren't enough..then tell us more!!
You. Never. Know. When you attend one of our shows, you never know what you're going to get. Our style is to not have a style, we love shifting genres, and never letting people know what they're going to hear next.
When you are writing a song, where do you draw inspiration from? Or what topics do you like to write or sing about?
On our recent EP Contact, there was definetely inspiration drawn from the big shifts and changes in life. They were a culmination of songs written while 2 of us in the band made a cross country move from Pennsylvania to Las Vegas. The successes and failures of life essentially "beginning," in that 21-25 year old phase. The good and the bad experiences, people, and emotions we felt along the way.
Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?
Chris: I'm a big sports guy, watching, playing, whatever. I'm always in the gym. Lifting, playing basketball. I'm also in a few beer League ice hockey leagues. Big beer guy, snobby as hell when it comes to my beer. Dylan: When I'm not making music I love to play Super Smash Brothers Melee. And also really dig playing pool. Matt S: I really enjoy playing hockey, me and Chris actually play together in a beer league. And I'm also a big beer guy. Matt P: Sports is my favorite thing outside of music. I'm always watching my teams and have a game on.
If you were to create your favorite playlist of other artists music, what would your top 3 songs be? And, what artists have influenced your music the most?..
Chris: 1. Here Comes The Sun- The Beatles 2. Help Me- Alkaline Trio 3. Born Under A Bad Sign- Albert King. As for most influential musically to me, I'd have to say artists like Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World, Gary Clark Jr., Blink 182, The Beatles, Alkaline Trio, Hall and Oates, Wu Tang, John Mayer, Jack White, Clapton...The list could go on forever Dylan: 1. This Isn't So Bad- Characters 2. Moment Of Silence- Streetlight Manifesto 3. O Green World- Gorillaz. Influential artists for me include Characters, Rx Bandits, Streetlight Manifesto, Dr Dre, Gorillaz, Fake Flowers, Skandalism and Jack White Matt S: 1. Lisas Theme- Big Sir 2. Taken For A Fool- The Strokes 3. Take The Money and Run- Steve Miller As for influence. John Frusciante's opinion on creativity impacts me the most. It's about being inside yourself and playing what comes out naturally. Matt P: 1. Life Is A Highway- Tom Cochrane 2. Build Me Up Buttercup- The Foundations 3. Pink Cigarette- Mr. Bungle Biggest influence for sure is the Beatles. Also Zappa, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Ivor Stravinsky and probably Radiohead.
Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it? Emotional doesn't have to mean sad etc., it can be a high energy too...
I'd probably have to say Human Punchline. The songs really about the way people perceived me for a good portion of my life, and the way I started to perceive myself. I was always goofy and doing stupid shit growing up and it turned into a "What will Chris do next," type of thing. No one took me seriously, everyone thought I was a fuck up. I was just the punchline to lifes big joke it felt like. Everyone pulled my energy from me and I never got anything in return. Not to sound super hippy type thing, but everyone drew off of my vibe, but never really did anything for me in return.
What is your dream gig? Is there a gig that you really want that would be the ultimate show for you?
Chris: I'd probably have to say Wembley. With the Foo Fighters haha. Dylan: I'd love to play Life Is Beautiful music festival, because I'm from Vegas and have been around it a long time. Matt S: I'd love to play at The Gorge in Washington. I went to Sasquatch festival there, and the vibe through out the place is just something I want to be around. Matt P: Red Rocks for sure. Some of the coolest shows I've watched were there.
Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?
Yes we are. Our next release will be a music video of one of the songs on this EP. We're not saying which though! Then it's on to a full length for us. We already have half a full length written and getting to recording as soon as free time permits.
