Amber Snider - 'I Will Be True'

Review by Patrick Joseph & Staff

“I Will Be True” opens very sweetly and blossoms to life in a beautiful way. This track is an absolute killer. It has a “retro” feeling to the rhythm section and uses a classic chord progression to give the music a familiar and friendly feeling. A skilled rhythm section keeps the music pushing forward in a hypnotic loop. Musically mature arrangement techniques keep the music fresh and exciting.

Lyrically, “I Will Be True” is an affirmative mission statement of dedication and true love. “I will be there for you, If you need me I will be true” Snider sings with slight yodel during dynamic peaks, tugging on the heartstrings. “If your mind is full of doubt and you've forgotten what it's all about.” Snider leaves no room for trepidation in these lyrics. Listeners will love the purity of the song’s message.

“I will be True” shows true songwriting brilliance. Snider withholds the true “hook” of the song until the very end, giving listeners just enough time to feel the naked gravity of the music’s message before an instrumental ending puts a period at the end of the sentence. Strings and mallet percussion elevate the song when least expected.

Overall, Snider’s strong vocals cascade over this track, harkening back to the golden age of crooners. She seems as comfortable belting out full voice melodies as she is whispering the sensitivity of dynamic lows. Basically, she shines as does the entire song. “I Will Be True” is a winner.
