Review by Brandon Watts & Staff
Award-winning singer-songrwiter Annemarie Picerno and renowned Nashville producer Bob McGilpin have released a new single, "Money Pain." This classic bluesy rock jam comes just in time to ease your financial woes like only great music can.
Jumping right in, this ever-so-catchy song kicks things off with a crisp electric guitar solo with expressive licks and riffs that immediately fuel this high-octane record. Warbling organ plays in the background filling any empty space with ambiance and a traditional dose of soul. Accompanied by acoustic strumming, steady bass lines, and tight drumming you will quickly get into the groove.
Perfectly raspy and soulful vocals set the scene telling a story about being in hard times, not being able to keep up with bills, and being out of work.
“I opened my mail box / Nothing but bills / A house with no heat / Gave my blues the chills / I lost my job now everything’s changed / I ain’t got nothing but money pain”
Annemarie Picerno and Bob McGilpin trade sections before joining together to create layers of enticing harmonies. These two industry pros add all the right touches to their vocal performance. Picerno hits the high notes giving you chills down your spine while McGilpin offers up a laid-back, cool-as-hell performance. Wrapping up their bluesy jam the duo vocalese over a squealing guitar solo for an awesome climactic end to the record.
Annemarie Picerno and Bob McGilpin offer an easily relatable song for the hard times we are facing with a much needed declaration for better times ahead. "Money Pain" may not fill your wallet with cash, but it will fill your heart with soul, your body with groove, and your ears with great music. Written by Bob McGilpin and Larry Morton, "Money Pain" can easily become a blues standard with it's timeless message and melody.
