“Get Another On” is a two-part opus with a wide emotional range and an engaging sound. In the main section of the tune, a beautiful chord progression is ornamented nicely on an acoustic guitar while the rhythm section drives steadily. The vocal melody and lead guitar find soulful notes that allow the song to contain a timeless depth. The second section drives like a freight train, the perfect rollicking companion bridge.
Lyrically, “Get Another On” is the internal narrative of a man drinking a beer alone on a porch. “Sad and lonely, Wont fade away, Since that girl left me, Life stays the same.” Webb paints a vivid and relatable picture with just a few words…great writing. “My friends all think I’m crazy for living the way I do, Who gives a damn what they say, That don’t make it true.” A thought we’ve certainly all had when drinking alone.
The arrangement of “Get Another On” is fun and effective. The first section settles in perfectly, just in time for the double-time bridge to come in and blow the roof off. Webb’s impressive vocal delivery is controlled and deliberate throughout. The overall sound of this music is meaningful and significant. Back-up vocals and tasteful instrumental playing complete the sound. Timeless musical architecture and inventive songwriting combine to create a great song in “Get Another On.”
About Charlie Webb
Charlie comes from deep southern roots. Before he was born his parents moved west from Mississippi and settled in beautiful Utah where his dad started working at the Utah State Prison. Charlie, at age 5 was included in their family band and started his stage presence early. From here he continued his passion for music and started playing guitar in his teens. In 1999, Charlie moved his young family to Nashville. There he was educated in the workings of the "REAL" music industry. He wrote, attended writers nights, played at the famous Tootsies Orchid Lounge and Wild Horse. Even walked the red carpet once with a Kitty Wells band member.
After returning home to Utah, he never stopped his passion for writing and performing. He has been working with an extremely talented producer/engineer, and it's made a great difference in his music career.
Charlie and his wife Melody co-write from time to time, though most come from Charlie. She helps with a hook or changing a word here and there. They are both published writers from local newspapers with having written stories and poetry. Charlie loves to write about real things, not country rap, but more traditional, folk, and modern sound with a southern rock edginess.
