Haley Griffin - 'Ferris Wheels'

Review by Ionas Finser & Staff

Get ready to have your socks knocked off by this chillingly sweet, introspective piece of music by Haley Griffin. Blissful guitar blends serenely with Griffin’s smooth, crystal-clear vocals to create the core of the song, while mesmerizing backing vocals, subtle drums, and intriguing atmospheric textures complete this true work of art. Just when you think you’ve heard it all, a gorgeous vocal interlude charms its way into the second half of the song.

Lyrically, Griffin uses a Ferris wheel as a symbol for the cycles that make up the experience of living. Hayley Griffin reminds us that there is a beginning, climax, and end to all things by drawing upon the universal experience of getting on a Ferris wheel, experiencing the sensational view, and then feeling the ride is over too soon. There is something so true and essential about the lyrics that it feels like one could listen to the song one hundred times and reinterpret the lyrics every time.

“Up there You can see The secrets we conceal And maybe you feel free”

Listening to "Ferris Wheels, one feels timeless. You click ‘play’, start listening, and all of a sudden the song is over and you are left with a spine-tingling feeling of bliss and peacefulness. Every piece of “Ferris Wheels” is made with true care, and produced so that every element shines forth for what it is. These are three minutes of music I’ll be living over and over again.
