“Baecation” is a slick and super cool track that vibes hard. Mixing 80’s retro style synths with common hip hop/trap style percussion, the song will grab your attention with its unique sound and pervasive atmosphere. The washy instrumentals all combine to create a hazy soundscape, creating a fun foundation for singer Hvley J and rapper Cla$ to drop some lovely melodies and fast paced rapping. This is a song that is there to make you feel cool, to make you feel alive.
The lyrics are as fierce and relentlessly confident as the song itself. Hvley J & Cla$ are creating imagery of the ideal life that is filled with pleasure, fun, and luxury. Wrapped up in this imagery is also the alluring sensation of escaping with someone, someone who you are deeply attracted to. “Bout’ time we hit the streets like a renegade, never checking for my chicken cause she been paid, it was love at first sight yeah you been bae, I think you sexier than ever cause you self-made”. The chorus furthers this fantasy world that they want to make a reality. “I want a baecation, you’re like a staycation, I don’t have to go nowhere, I wanna be with you baby”.
The instrumental backing track of “Baecation” is tight and packs a punch while also being very open and spacy. The ambience comes from the 80’s style synths which create a dream-like sensation. These synths are wavy and loose, they create the feeling of floating in ecstasy. The tight groove of the song comes from the percussion that is heavy and firm.
Cla$ and Hvley J vocal stylings complement one another so well and both easily switch between singing and rapping. Cla$ vocals are more grinding and aggressive while Hvley J’s vocals are very soft and fluid. Together they create an incredibly dynamic duo. “Baecation” is a badass summer jam that will make you want to blast it in your car as you drive towards your idealistic dreams.
