Review by Patrick Joseph & Staff
“Hot Summer Nite” is an amazing sonic ride. The opening synth blend of flute, faux vocal chorus, and tremolo plucked strings sets the stage for a unique and energetic song. Rocking drum and guitar patterns underscore an expressive lead vocal that will have you on the edge of your seat. Courageous indie-sensibilities are all over this track that establishes its own engaging identity. The driving rhythms and catchy melodies will have you dancing and grooving from start to finish.
Lyrically, “Hot Summer Nite” explores the passion of summer romance. “We’ve got it right Shifting into high gear, It’s kind of like The color pink, That’s what love is like in the middle of a hot summer nite.” Poetic and relatable, these lyrics offer an interesting perspective. “I love to talk, dream, follow a star, Set the sail to the exotic land.” The energy of the music matches these lyrical sentiments perfectly.
The arrangement of “Hot Summer Nite” is layered and indicate. The interplay between distorted electric guitar and clean plucked strings is fantastic. The drum track pushes the music forward while synth and string textures add depth to the song.
The relationship between the two vocal melodies is incredible. Dropping to bass, drums and vocals for the chorus hook demonstrates musical wisdom and elevates the song. “Hot Summer Nite” is an incredibly unique and well-done piece of music.
