Matt Nation - 'Rose Gold'

Review by Sylvie Marie & Staff

“Rose Gold” is a delicate, sexy, smooth song with swagger and class. A rich backing track with harmonic complexity and melodic brilliance sets an excellent backdrop for Matt Nation’s tricked-out vocals. Drums keep this track moving forward slow and steady, while bass and synth lines keep the energy level high. This song is simultaneously mellow and energizing…a fascinating accomplishment.

Lyrically, “Rose Gold” is bittersweet. Themes of surface level connections and the complexities of intimacy are explored artistically. “Make me, wanna believe in love, Rollin’ in yo sheets, Lip tucked in yo teeth, Drop down to yo knees.” Nation’s delivery is confident and smooth, giving the music believability. “Drape my heart in rose gold, Time moving in slow mo, If ya leaving don’t let goo.” The sweetness of the music shines an emotional light on these lyrics.

“Rose Gold” contains arrangement intricacies that allow it to stand out from the pack. In a contract to the lyrical themes, this song’s genuine quality contains no illusions. Sonic layering, mixing, and dynamic developments converge together in a highly cohesive musical statement. There is a depth to this music that will have listeners sinking in. A catchy hook and an undeniable beat…“Rose Gold” is an absolute winner.
