Richard Lynch- "Pray on The Radio"

Review by Pat Joseph & Staff

The W.A M. Awards celebrate the year’s most outstanding independent artists from around the world in multiple genres and categories. "Best Song" and "Best Album" nominations were based on Artistry, Musicianship, Originality, Professionalism, Diversity, and Excellence. W.A.M. stands for "We Are the Music Makers.' Richard Lynch's album "Think I'll Carry On" was the 2020 W.A.M. Award Winner for Best Album in the Country music category.

“Pray on the Radio” has that timeless country sound that always feels fresh and pure. Inspirational in its emotion and its message, this song has a catchy chorus that will have you singing along. Lynch delivers the song with an honesty and believability that wins over listeners and gives this tune a calming tone. His baritone register during verses is impressively controlled, and his energy during choruses elevates the music.

Lyrically, “Pray on the Radio” is the perfect sing along for Christian and Country music fans on a road trip or on the road of life. “There’s no better company than Jesus, while we’re out on the road.” The song also doubles as an insight into Lynch’s writing process: “I told the DJ right then, I’d be more than happy, to share my thoughts and inspirations about my songs.” The literary device of a singer being asked to “pray on the radio” and resulting in a song is brilliant, the kind of unique angle that makes a country song really shine.

All of the arrangement techniques that make timeless Country music so appealing are on full display in “Pray on the Radio.” A strong chorus with beautiful back-up vocal harmonies, inspired piano and electric guitar fills, sweet pedal steel and a locked in drum and bass section make this song right at home with the classics. Everything about “Pray on the Radio” is dialed in perfectly, and Lynch’s vocals will have you turning up the volume knob.
