The Licata Brothers- “Since You Went Away”

Review by Patrick Joseph

“Since You Went Away” is a driving and uplifting piece of music. Lockstep vocal harmonies and timeless songwriting techniques give this song lively, infectious energy. Incredible talent is on display from multiple angles on this engaging track. Vocal performances are phenomenal while the band is absolutely on fire. The overall build in dynamic energy will have you hooked and begging for more.

Lyrically, “Since You Went Away” is a homage to cherished memories.

“When you’re here, Clouds disappear, When you're here, I have no fear.”

The intensity of the musical accompaniment injects these lyrics with poignant emotion.

“In the night I call your name, Reminiscin' your embrace, Only you can ease the pain Since you went away.”

These powerful sentiments are delivered with energetic passion.

The arrangement of “Since You Went Away” showcases the many talents of this outfit. Dynamic shifts between sections are expertly done. A breathtaking guitar solo is supported by an incredible rhythm section which provides instrumental flourishes throughout the song. Vocal harmonies are amazing and a “late in the game” key change puts the icing on the cake. Basically, “Since You Went Away” is a fantastic rock song.
