Music Review by Ionas Finser & Staff
A moody grand piano sets the patient, emotional tone of Glenn Shayne’s “Catch My Tears.” As Briana Tyson’s rich, fervent voice enters the mix, we are introduced to the true nature of this masterful piece of music.
Melodic genius is responsible for phrase after perfect phrase of vocals that rise and dip in relation to the mood of the lyrics being sung. Subtle percussion gradually makes its way underneath the melody and harmony, and gentle shakers provide a heartbeat as this brilliant song keeps moving and the chills keep running down your spine.
The lyrics of “Catch My Tears” speak to the seemingly endless sorrow and emptiness that follows a tragic heartbreak. We truly feel the pain and grief of the song’s message as Tyson’s vocals keep growing in both intensity and emotional expression. The mood is unmistakably hollow, capturing the deeply human experience of loss and longing.
“It's like they're raining out my love for you. But a hundred million tears is never gonna do. Oh I'd give anything for you to maybe feel it too. But you never gonna love me like I loved you."
By writing this song, Glenn Shayne created a moving message that can serve to fill the void left in countless broken hearts. Melody comes natural to the artist, who has cultivated music that is not only catchy and delicately beautiful, but also rich in depth and emotion. “Catch My Tears” is a resounding theme for damaged love, and one that you will never forget as soon as you hear it.
